Thiruhrudaya College of Nursing celebrated its annual college day “DEEKSHA 2K23” on 4/10/2023 with great enthusiasm and fervor. The event featured a public meeting a spectacular cultural program that showcased the talent and unity of our student body.
FAREWELL PROGRAM
The farewell programme of Dr.Sabeena Thomas (Vice Principal) was conducted on 2/10/2023The event took place in the CHEF NALAN ACADEMY, NALUMANYKATTU, KOTTAYAMTCN Principal, Sr. Alice N.C acknowledging her valuable contributions to the college and expressed gratitude.
WORLD HEART DAY
World heart day celebrations of the year 2023 were conducted on 28th September at SH Medical Centre. The program was organized by 3rd year BSc Nursing students of Thiruhrudaya College of Nursing.The theme of the day was “ Use Heart , Know Heart”. The theme presentation was done through a musical drama using various AV aids such as flash cards. The presentation included various causes ,risk factors, management and preventive measures of heart diseases. The present statistical data of increasing cardiovascular diseases was also presented.
ONAM CELEBRATION
Onam celebration were held on 26th august 2023. The college entrance were decorated with Athapookalam. The program began with Megathiruvathira and Onapattu. Thereafter Malayalamanka and Malayalee Sreeman competitions held. The celebration end with Onam Sadhya.
INDEPENDENCE DAY
Thiruhruhaya college of nursing celebrated 76th Independence Day and Flag Hosting ceremony collaborated with SH Medical Centre Hospital held on 15th August 2023 at 7.30am on the SHMC campus.The celebrations started with Flag hosting by Municipal Chairperson Smt.Bincy Sebastian. The chief guest of the event was Dr.santhosh Zacaria(Senior Consultant Anesthestist , SHMC) who delivered an inspiring speech. TCN student representative Ms.Arathy Rajan delivered a speech about the freedom fighters and freedom struggles. After that TCN students presented the Patriotic song and patriotic dance performance. Then saluted the flag and sang our national anthem all together. At the end of the programme, Packets of sweets were distributed to the students.
SNA EAST ZONAL LEVEL COMPETITIONS
Sports and games : conducted at Pala Municipal stadium on 15th july 2023. The event hosted by Mar Sleeva College of Nursing Pala. TCN ites participated in all items..TCN secured 2nd prize for 200 mtr race, and 4×100 mtr relay (girls and boys), 3rd prize for caroms and javelin throw.
Educational competition : conducted at Govt. Nursing College Kottayam on 19th july 2023. Students were performed scientific paper presentation, health play, extempore speech poster competitions and writing competitions also.We secured 2nd prize for health play and poster presentation ( history and trends in nursing in india), 3rd prize for scientific paper presentation and 2nd prize for story writing.
Arts day : the event hosted by TCN on 21st july 2023 at TCN. 19 College of nursing participated in this event.
We got 1st prize for recitation (eng), Mimicry(mal), and Mono Act. These students selected for state level competitions.
We secured 2nd prize for group dance and group song and 3rd prize for mime show.
We TCN proud to have secured fifth position in East Zone of SNA.
GRADUATION CEREMONY
Graduation ceremony of 4th batch of B.Sc Nursing students of 8th July 2023 in TCN auditorium. The program commenced with the procession and invocation of graduates. after that TCN students performed welcome dance followed by Rev. Sr. Jeslin Mary SH Prof. of TCN welcomed the gathering. The program presided over by Rev. Sr. Ancy James SH Vicar Provincial Sh Congregation, St. Mathew’s Province Chenganacherry. Sr. Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan MLA Kottayam inaugurated the function. The guest of honor Dr. Latha R. ( Retd. JDNE Govt. of Kerala) declared the convocation and delivered keynote address. Sr. Alice N.C Principal TCN invocate Nurse’s Oath for the graduates.Dr. Sabeena Thomas, (Vice Principal), Sr. Catherine Nedumpuram SH ( Director SHMC), Mr. Shobichen( PTA President), Ms. Jesmol Abraham ( Student Representative) address the felicitation.
The meritorious awards also were distributed by the dignitaries to merit students. Toast from the graduates was delivered by Ms. Ashby Varghese from outgoing. Ms. Sony Thomas Asst. Prof. concluded the program with vote of thanks.
ANTI DRUG DAY
International day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking was conducted on June 26th 2023. This year theme was " People First Step Stigma and Discrimination, Strengthen prevention".The Meeting was inaugurated by M.Gopakumar, Legal Cell Sub Inspector of Police. The legal cell departement handover two books " kavacham" and "karuthal" to the students.
COMPETITIONS
It was decided to hold the rest of the unit level SNA competitions held on the occasion of Nurses day.
Sports and games : badminton, caroms, chess held on 24th june 2023.
Arts and drawing competitions: floor decoration, on the spot painting, poster presentation held on 27th june 2023.Skit, mime show, group dance, mimicry, group dance, mappilapattu, margamkali held on 3rd july 2023.

Quiz competition : held on 3oth june 2023 at TCN auditorium.Mr. Shaji Choorapuzha ( quiz master) was led overall quiz program. 32 students participated in this quiz program. There were a total number of 5 rounds in the quiz. After the preliminary round top 6 teams ( each team per 3 members) were selected.
WOMEN SELF DEFENCE TRAINING PROGRAM (WSDP)
Kottayam East Police section organized 2 days ( afternoon session) training program in Self Defence for students on 19th june 2023 at TCN auditorium. The training given for 2 batches - 3rd years and 3rd sem students . Four women police officers led by this program. Practical session was also conducted. The main of this program is at preventing violence against women and children.
HOME DAY
As a part of feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus TCN management, Staff and students has celeberated home day on 15th June 2023. The occasion was graced by the presence of Rev. Fr. Jilson Mathew Kakkattupillil V.C , Provincial Superior Vincentian Congregation Kottayam. The program started with Holy mass.After that there was a public meeting. The meeting started at 12noon with a prayer dance. Prof. Sr. Alice N.C Principal TCN welcomed the gathering. Rev. Fr. Jilson Mathew VC inaugurated the function and delivered the inaugural address.TCN benefactors, neighbors and family members of staffs all are invited for this function. The students of TCN organized various cultural activities. The program ended with agape.
THANKSGIVING
The farewell program for the batch 2018-2022 was conducted in TCN auditorium on 1st June 2023 at 11am. The program was organized under guidance of principal Prof. Sr. Alice N.C Principal, TCN , coordinated Dr. Sabeena Thomas, Vice Principal TCN.Ms. Ashly Joseph on behalf of B.Sc Nursing shared their experience and feelings. As a token of love all outgoing students contributed to organize delicious lunch for teaching and non teaching faculties of college of nursing.
Momentous were distributed to all outgoing students.
FAREWELL PROGRAM
Fourth year B.Sc Nursing students (2019-2023 batch) of TCN organized a farewell party for the outgoing students (2018-2022 batch) on 29th May 2023 at 2pm. Students welcomed their seniors. After that juniors welcomed each seniors and asked various interesting questions. Students performed various cultural activities like solo song, group song, group dance etc.
NURSES DAY
Nurses day was celebrated by students and faculties of Thiruhrudaya College of Nursing, Kottayam on May 12th 2023. International Council of Nurses launched the theme for Nurses : OUR NURSES,OUR FUTURE.The Kottayam district conducted various programmes as a part of Nurses day , like Rally. Thiruhrudaya College of Nursing win First Prise in Nurses day Rally.
WORLD TUBERCULOSIS DAY
As a part of world Tuberculosis day third semester students conducted an Awareness programme in Nattakom Primary Health Center on 24.03.2023. The Quiz competition, Flash Mob and Role Play was performed by the students.
WOMEN’S DAY
International Women’s Day “EGALITE 2023” conducted on 11.03.2023 at TCN college auditorium organized by Principal and Staff of our college in collaboration with Emmaus Public School, Kaduvakkulam and the program hosted by 3rd semester students. Chief guest welcomed on this auspicious occasion was Ms.Jilumol Mariet Thomas (Influencer, Foot artist and designer). Programme was inaugurated by Ms.Sheeba Lalichan (Ward Member, Panachikkad Panchyath).
LAMP LIGHTING CEREMONY
The Lamp Lighting ceremony of 8th batch of BSc Nursing students held on 25.02.2023 at college auditorium. The programme started with little angel’s procession accomplished by Florence Nightingale, Flower girls and students. The chief guest of the programme was Rev.Fr.Xavier Kizhakkemyalil CMI, Superior CMI st.Joseph’s Provincial house , kottayam.
SOCIAL JUSTICE DAY
First Semester students had conducted and celebrated Social Justice Day on 24.02.2023 at college auditorium. The name of the programme was IGNITE and the theme was Overcoming Barriers and Unleashing Opportunities for Social Justice”. Students presented various performance like dance,song and skit.
SCIENCE ON WHEELS
Department of Science and Technology, Kerala state has organized a seminar and Exhibition “Science on Wheels” on 17.02.2023. at St.Georg’s H.S Manimala.Thiruhrudaya college also take a part in the program by an exhibition conducted by 4th year students. Various models and posters on topic like “Diabetes mellitus, Hypertension & Adoloescent Health”were exhibited and explained to the public and students.
SCHOOL HEALTH PROGRAMME
As a part of Fourth Year BSc Nursing Community Health Nursing, conducted a School Health Programme like Medical Camp & Adolescent Health Exhibition at St.Joseph Higher Secondary School, Punnathura on 01.02.2023.
