Philosophy

PHILOSOPHY

Statement 1

We believe that Nursing is a profession within the health care sector focused on the care of individuals, families and communities so that they may attain maintain or recover optimal health and quality of life. 

Statement 2

We believe that the basic course in nursing is a formal educational preparation, based and built on scientific principles and sound educational theory and practice, in order to prepare professionally qualified nurses, who will be able to function as a team member, in all health care agencies in the role of a practicing nurse, and with experience, she can rapidly move in to leadership positions in nursing education, nursing service and administration.

Statement 3

 We further believe that the individual is the client and recipient of health care. The client is a holistic being who strives for wellness and continually adapts to his or her environment .We support the tenet that individuals are the focus of nursing care and they are therefore entitled to comprehensive treatment with dignity and respect regardless of economic, cultural, religious or social position or belief.

Statement 4

The faculty of the BSc Nursing Degree programme of Thiruhrudaya College of Nursing, Kottayam in support of the philosophy and mission of S.H Medical Centre Hospital believe in excellence in the generation and transmission of nursing knowledge through teaching learning process which is the responsibility of both faculty and students.

Statement 5

We believe that the teachers have the responsibility to be role models and create learning environment that enables students to acquire inquiry driven, self directed learning and foster an attitude of lifelong learning. 

Statement 6

 We recognize that empowerment of women is essential for affecting social change and thus for building up of a better society
