Sacred Heart of Jesus – Our Strength

“The strength and spirit of Thiruhrudaya College of Nursing (TCN) are deeply rooted in the healing and compassionate ministry of Jesus Christ, reflected in the charism of the Sacred Heart Sisters, which inspires every aspect of the institution’s mission.”. Guided by the Gospel, which calls us to ‘love one another as I have loved you’ (John 13:34) and to ‘heal the sick, care for the poor, and serve the needy’ (Mathew 25:35–36), the Sacred Heart Sisters, drawing strength from the love of the Sacred Heart, embody Christ’s healing compassion through their unwavering commitment to nursing education, patient care, and community service. Their service is not merely professional but a spiritual vocation, rooted in the mercy, compassion, and love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus — the true source of strength for the institution.”

The teachings of the Catholic Church, including the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 1822–1829), emphasize the imitation of Christ in love, service, and self-giving. The Sacred Heart Sisters live this call daily, integrating faith with action, and teaching students that nursing is not only a profession but also a ministry of love, service, and respect for human dignity. Papal documents such as Pope John Paul II’s “Centesimus Annus” and Pope Benedict XVI’s writings on the dignity of the human person and the vocation of service highlight the importance of compassionate care, social responsibility, and the role of education in transforming society — principles that are at the heart of TCN’s mission.

The college recognizes that its institutional strength lies in the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the source of all wisdom, compassion, and guidance. This divine inspiration ensures that TCN graduates not only excel in nursing practice but also embody the values of faith, service, and love, fulfilling the Church’s call to be witnesses of Christ in the world.

Inspiration Behind Thiruhrudaya College of Nursing

Venerable Fr. Mathew Kadalikkattil

The legacy and vision of Venerable Fr. Born on 25th April 1872 in Pala, Fr. Mathew dedicated his life to the service of God and humanity with deep compassion, humility, and an unwavering commitment to the marginalized. Ordained as a priest in 1901, his ministry was marked by profound pastoral zeal, selfless love for the poor, and tireless efforts to uplift the downtrodden, especially women and children.

He firmly believed that educating women is the key to transforming families, strengthening communities, and building a just and compassionate society. His visionary approach led to the establishment of numerous educational institutions, paving the way for generations of women to realize their potential and contribute to the social and spiritual progress of society

The spirit that guided the founding of Thiruhrudaya College of Nursing continues to inspire its mission today. Rooted in Fr. Mathew’s ideals of education, empowerment, and holistic development, the college is dedicated to preparing compassionate, skilled, and socially responsible nursing professionals. While upholding its tradition of empowering women, TCN also recognizes the vital role of both men and women in advancing nursing and healthcare, fostering an inclusive environment that provides equal opportunities for all.
